Burn Court Hotel

At the top the building which was, until recently, the Burn Court Hotel and, at the bottom, the origin of that establishment, from an early Bude guide.

  1. this photograph brings back memories of 1982 when I worked for National Holidays as a coach driver, we would stay at the Burn Court for six days throughout the summer season of 1982.
I think the name of the proprietors was Mr & Mrs Walker, they were good days when the National Bus Companies operated local bus services and express coach services all over the UK, and of course National Holidays, but privatisation changed it all and not for the better.
Bude is certainly a lovely part of the country, I always enjoyed spending time around the Cornwall and Devon area and made friends with some of the locals working in the cinema.

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment to add the lovely story.

  2. Hi!
We stayed at the Burn Court Hotel in August 1982 for part of our honeymoon. We stayed 2 nights and it cost £89.40 for 2 days half board. It was in fact Jim and Gwen Walker who were the resident owners and they had taken it over in 1962. We were treated like royalty by the head waiter there but the weather was horrendous – thunderstorms!
