The Castle in the 1900’s; also visible are the many buildings on the wharf, including the seamen’s shelter and mortuary and the ancient causeway, which crossed the marshy ground from Nanny Moore’s to Ebbingford Manor before the coming of the canal. On top of the Castle hill is a flagstaff; at one time there was also a summerhouse there.
