A more modern wreck than the others, the RFA tanker Green Ranger was wrecked in a force 8 gale at Longpeak, near Hartland, on 17th November 1962. The crew of 7 were rescued by breeches buoy and she became a total loss; one of the few of these wrecks whose demise was recorded on television.
