Hawk at Crooklets in 1897

A crowd watches the ketch Hawk, driven ashore just south of Crooklets on 27th August 1897. She was built in Appledore in 1860 and was locally owned by Hockin & Hooper – whose warehouse dominated the Strand – she was wrecked whilst carrying a cargo of scrap iron from Bude to Newport.
