Taken on 25th September 1941, the ketch Veteran lies in the lower basin of the Bude canal.

  1. I was evacuated to Bude during the war and lived with Colonel and Mrs Griffin at Langfield. I often visited the canal and may well seen ‘Veteran’ during this visit. I must admit that at the time I was more interested in the forge and the smith working there. The situation would be reversed now if the opportunity existed! I still regard myself as an ‘honorary Cornishman’!
